Trailer Watch for the fall

May 22nd, 2009

Here are two schmears I’m looking forward to watching in September. This brilliant sci-fi year continues with Gamer, a new sci-fi/thriller staring Gerard Butler and Michael C. Hall. Check out the trailer, looks cool.

9, an animated adventure produced by Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov. Plot according to IMDB:  “A post-apocalyptic nightmare in which all of humanity is threatened.” Just my kind of movie :) Click here to see the trailer.

Still haven’t seen any trailer for Twilight Watch , keeping my eyes open for it.

Schmear on!

King of the crimeseries!

May 19th, 2009

emily-david-bonesIt has now been two years since I became addicted to the series Bones, and now FOX has promised us two more seasons! If you haven’t seen any Bones eps you should really start now. I loved season 3 (and season 1 and 2), with the whole Gormagon story following season 3. I didn’t like the endning however, and I wasn’t sure they would be able to bring back the series with 4th season beeing as good as season 3. But they did!

Season 4 had some of the most funny, thrilling and disgusting episodes so far. The 4th season brought back some old characters, like the Gravedigger in ep 13 and Dr Gordon Whyatt (played by Stephen Fry), and a lot of new characters keeping the series fresh but not losing anything of what we all love with the series. But just like season 3, I’m not sure I liked the cliffhanger in season 4. However  I have all the faith in the world that they will bring back a season 5 and 6 at least as good as the previous, if not better ;)

For those of you who haven’t seen Bones, I guess you have no idea what I’m talking about. Bones is a crime/drama/romance/comedy series staring Emily Deschanel as  Dr. Temperance “Bones” Brennan and David Boreanaz as FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth. Together they solve murders with the help of the rest of the crew at the Jeffersonian by examinating the victims bones (and what else is left of the bodies). The chemistry between Brennan and Booth, and the rest of the cast, is hard to find in any other crimeschmear. You just fall in love with all of them.

Be sure to check out Bones, why not a rainy day this summer, and for those of you who like me already love the series we’ll just have to watch reruns until the new season comes this fall. :)

Chuck will be back!

May 19th, 2009

Good news for all Chuck fans! Chuck will be back with a third schmear season, with 13 episodes. It’s not a full season but hey, it’s better than nothing :) There will however be some cut-backs, some writers and/or actors may not be returning with the series, but as long as Chuck is back I’m happy.

It also looks like Dollhouse will be given a second chance, finally FOX gets something right.
Castle will also be back, along with new eps of Scrubs, which frankly confuses me a bit. I think they made a good ending to the 8th season, and it would make a good ending to the series. Keeping it going any further might not be such a great idea in my mind.

Anyways, this fall is saved with my favorite spy and the dolls coming back :)

Schmear long and prosper!

Now it’s confirmed, the new Star Trek movie is AWESOME! J.J. Abrams did a great job making it a movie for both fans and non-trekkies to enjoy. If Star Trek TOS had been made today this is probably what it would have looked like.

The story made it feel like a true Star Trek movie, an angry romulan (Nero, played by Eric Bana) wants to destroy the Federation, but more to the point the story is about how the crew of the Enterprise from TOS was gathered, with a focus on the lifes of Kirk and Spock.

The general feeling of the movie was truly Star Trek, and the technology fits right in the timeline. The actors also did a great job bringin back all the characters we all love (my favorite beeing Karl Urban as Leonard McCoy obviously). One could recognize the characters before they said their names just from their behaviour and the way they talked. Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto were great as Kirk and Spock. Loved it!

Also, I loved the referens to Enterprise, my favorite of the Star Trek series. ;)

Overall this was a great movie, probably the best movie this year (no way Transformers 2 can beat it). And as I said, you don’t have to be a hard-core fan to enjoy it. Hopefully this will bring a new generation of fans, and a new series! One thing is sure, Star Trek is not dead even though it’s been 43 years since we first met the crew of the Federation Starship Enterprise. Keep ‘em coming!
